Role Overview: As a Data Engineer at Alembic, you’ll play a crucial role in building and maintaining the data infrastructure that powers our marketing analytics platform. You’ll be responsible for designing, implementing, and managing data pipelines, warehouses, and processing systems that handle massive volumes of marketing data. This role requires a blend of technical expertise in data engineering and a deep understanding of how data flows through complex systems to provide actionable insights for enterprise clients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design and implement scalable data pipelines for ingestion, transformation, and loading of marketing data
- Build and maintain data warehouses and data lakes using modern big data technologies
- Collaborate with data scientists and analysts to understand data requirements and build appropriate data structures
- Develop ETL/ELT processes to move data between different systems and platforms
- Ensure data quality, consistency, and integrity across all data sources and destinations
- Optimize data processing workflows for performance and cost efficiency
- Monitor and maintain data infrastructure for availability, reliability, and performance
- Work with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) to deploy and manage data services
- Implement data governance policies and ensure compliance with data standards
- Participate in system design reviews and contribute to technical architecture decisions
- Document data processes, schemas, and system configurations
- Troubleshoot and resolve data-related issues in production environments
- Collaborate with engineering teams to integrate data systems with application platforms
- Stay current with emerging data engineering technologies and best practices
Requirements & Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, or related technical field
- 4+ years of professional experience in data engineering or related role
- Strong proficiency in Python, SQL, and data processing frameworks
- Experience with big data technologies such as Spark, Kafka, or Flink
- Knowledge of data warehousing concepts and tools (Snowflake, Redshift, BigQuery)
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and containerization technologies
- Understanding of data modeling, ETL/ELT processes, and data pipeline architectures
- Experience with database systems including PostgreSQL, MySQL, MongoDB, or similar
- Knowledge of data quality tools and data validation techniques
- Familiarity with CI/CD practices for data engineering workflows
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to analyze complex data systems
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work in cross-functional teams
- Experience with monitoring and alerting systems for data infrastructure
- Understanding of data security, privacy, and compliance requirements
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
- Experience with modern data architecture patterns and best practices
