Ambient is seeking a Principal Rust Engineer to join our team building a groundbreaking Proof of Work L1 blockchain powered by AI. You will play a key role in designing, developing, and optimizing the core infrastructure of our network, which involves large-scale distributed systems handling verified inference, fine-tuning, and training of a massive (>600B parameter) language model. Company Overview: Ambient is creating a cryptocurrency network where AI computation itself forms the basis of the proof of work. We're building an SVM-compatible L1 (a Solana fork) that replaces Proof of Stake with Proof of Work based on LLM tasks, aiming for Bitcoin-like economics coupled with AI productivity. Our network utilizes a hyper-optimized Proof of Logits (PoL) consensus for fast, provably secure verified inference. Role & Responsibilities: - Architect, implement, and maintain high-performance, concurrent, and distributed systems using Rust. - Contribute significantly to the design and development of our L1 blockchain core, consensus mechanisms (PoL), and P2P networking layer. - Optimize system performance, scalability, and reliability for handling large-scale AI workloads across a decentralized network. - Collaborate closely with AI/ML researchers and other engineers to integrate AI components seamlessly into the blockchain infrastructure. - Mentor junior engineers and contribute to code reviews, best practices, and overall system design. - Ensure the security and robustness of the network infrastructure. Technical Skills Required: - Extensive experience in Rust development, particularly in building complex, high-performance systems. - Strong understanding of distributed systems principles, concurrency, and networking. - Experience with blockchain technology, consensus algorithms, and P2P networks is highly desirable. - Familiarity with systems programming, performance optimization, and low-level details. - Comfortable working in a fast-paced, research-driven environment. Ideal Candidate: - Proven track record of designing and building large-scale, reliable distributed systems. - Passionate about blockchain, cryptocurrency, and the intersection of AI and decentralized systems. - Experience working with or contributing to large open-source projects. - Comfortable tackling novel challenges in a cutting-edge technological domain.
