About Apollo Agriculture: Apollo Agriculture (YC F1) is bringing modern farming to the world’s poorest farmers. Millions of farmers globally don’t have access to the basic resources the rest of the world depends on for food production: good seed and fertilizer. We sell these on credit, use ML to figure out who we can lend to profitably, and are growing rapidly (two countries and growing).

Our Core Stack: Our primary engineering stack includes Scala 2 with cats-effect and a PostgreSQL database. We are building robust, scalable systems that handle critical operations for our agricultural technology platform.

Responsibilities: As a Full Stack Software Engineer at Apollo, you will:

• Design, develop, and maintain backend services using Scala and cats-effect
• Optimize database performance and ensure data integrity with PostgreSQL
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement features that directly impact farmers’ livelihoods
• Contribute to the architecture and technical direction of our platform
• Write clean, testable code following best practices
• Mentor junior engineers and share knowledge across the team

Requirements: We are looking for candidates with:

• 5+ years of experience as a Full Stack Engineer
• Proficiency in Scala (versions 2.x) and functional programming paradigms
• Experience with cats-effect or similar functional libraries
• Strong PostgreSQL database skills including schema design and optimization
• Excellent problem-solving abilities with a track record of building reliable systems
• Experience working in autonomous, mission-driven environments
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced startup setting
