Role Description:
We are seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to join our small, focused backend team (currently 7 engineers). You will play a key role in evolving our platform to handle significant customer growth and expansion into new energy markets. The primary challenge involves deeply understanding the mechanics of energy markets and battery storage, then designing and implementing robust, scalable backend systems in Go.

Responsibilities:
- Design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and improve backend software systems written primarily in Go.
- Tackle scalability challenges as we onboard more assets and enter new markets.
- Collaborate with backend engineers, frontend engineers, data scientists, and operations teams.
- Contribute to system architecture decisions.
- Translate complex energy market rules and battery operational constraints into reliable code.
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to team best practices.

Ideal Candidate:
- Experienced backend engineer with strong proficiency in Go (Golang).
- Proven track record of building and scaling reliable, distributed systems.
- Comfortable tackling complex domains and translating requirements into software.
- Passionate about renewable energy, climate tech, and making a tangible impact.
- Collaborative team player with excellent communication skills.
- Experience with energy markets, trading systems, or industrial IoT is a plus, but not required – a willingness to learn is key.
- Enjoys working in a fast-paced, growing company environment.

Location: London, UK (Hybrid - Approx. 2 days/week in Blackfriars office, flexible)
