**Position Overview:** We are seeking a motivated backend engineer to join our dynamic team. You will design, build, and launch essential cloud services from the ground up, significantly impacting our products and success. This role offers the opportunity to work on high-frequency data processing systems and contribute to our scalable infrastructure.

**Requirements:**
*   Experienced or interested in Rust, or proficient in JVM-based languages (especially Clojure).
*   Skilled in building real-time data processing and multi-threaded, latency-sensitive systems.
*   Familiar with stream processing (Kafka, Pulsar, Flink) and distributed systems.
*   Capable of building secure, scalable, and reliable systems with attention to monitoring and graceful failure.
*   Experienced with relational, non-relational, and time-series databases.
*   Familiarity with cloud infrastructure, especially AWS, is a strong advantage.

**Responsibilities:**
*   Design, build, and launch essential cloud services from the ground up.
*   Develop high-performance, scalable backend systems for processing financial data.
*   Create real-time data processing pipelines using stream processing technologies.
*   Ensure the reliability and security of our backend infrastructure through thoughtful system design.
*   Collaborate with product and frontend teams to deliver features that meet business needs.
*   Optimize system performance and troubleshoot issues in complex distributed environments.
*   Mentor junior engineers and contribute to code reviews and architectural decisions.
*   Stay at the forefront of backend technologies and apply best practices to system design.
*   Work with data engineers to ensure seamless data flow between systems.
*   Participate in the continuous improvement of our platform's infrastructure.

**Compensation:** The estimated pay range for this role is £75,000 - £95,000. This role is eligible for equity as part of our compensation package.
