About Babs: Babs is building an AI-powered family operating system that serves as a comprehensive “Command Center” for household management. Think of it as an operating system designed to reduce the mental load of running a family. Our platform takes messy inputs like emails, texts, and calendar invites and transforms them into clean workflows for scheduling, communication, and household coordination. Founded by an experienced team from Uber, we’re backed by Accel and have already achieved Product-Market Fit with our initial product. This is an early-stage opportunity to help go from 0 to 1 as we build the foundation for what could become a fundamental part of modern family life.

About The Role: As a founding engineer at Babs, you’ll play a critical role in shaping our technical architecture and driving innovation from the ground up. You’ll own the core engineering systems, ship fast, and build agent-based features powered by LLMs. We’re looking for a full-stack or backend-leaning engineer with a passion for product and a desire for real ownership. This is a unique opportunity to have significant impact in a startup environment while building something truly innovative.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and implement the core architecture for our AI-powered family operating system
• Build and optimize agent-based features using LLMs to automate household tasks
• Collaborate closely with product to define requirements and ship impactful features
• Ensure system scalability, reliability, and performance for growing user base
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to a culture of technical excellence
• Develop innovative solutions to complex problems in household management

Required Skills & Qualifications:

• Proven experience building scalable systems with a focus on performance
• Deep expertise in full-stack or backend engineering with languages like Python/Go/Rust
• Strong understanding of distributed systems and cloud infrastructure
• Experience with AI/ML, particularly LLMs and agent-based systems
• Passion for product and a track record of building impactful products
• Ability to work independently and take ownership of technical direction
• Excellent problem-solving skills with a focus on elegant solutions
