Company: bloop (YC S21) is modernising legacy code with AI. We're combining LLMs and transpilers to translate COBOL into Java, helping the largest companies modernise their legacy codebases. We are funded by Y Combinator and based in London, UK. Role: Software Engineer (Rust, AI) We are seeking a Software Engineer with strong Rust skills and experience or interest in Artificial Intelligence (AI) to join our team in London. You will play a key role in integrating AI, particularly Large Language Models (LLMs), into our code translation platform. Responsibilities: * Develop and implement AI/LLM components within our Rust-based codebase. * Research, experiment with, and apply state-of-the-art AI techniques for code analysis, understanding, and generation. * Collaborate closely with compiler engineers to integrate AI capabilities seamlessly into the transpilation pipeline. * Optimise AI models and algorithms for performance and accuracy in the context of code translation. * Contribute to the overall architecture and design of the bloop platform. Technical Skills Required: * Strong proficiency in Rust development. * Experience or strong interest in AI/ML, particularly Large Language Models (LLMs). * Familiarity with AI/ML frameworks and libraries. * Understanding of software engineering best practices. * Experience with compilers or language processing is a plus. Ideal Candidate: * Excited about applying cutting-edge AI to challenging problems like legacy code modernisation. * Has 3+ years of relevant software development experience. * Enjoys working collaboratively in a fast-paced startup environment (YC S21). * Is a proactive problem-solver with a desire to learn and adapt. * Is eligible to work onsite in London, UK.
