Blue Origin is developing reusable space technology, including the New Glenn rocket, the Blue Moon lunar lander, and the Orbital Reef space station, with the mission to enable millions of people living and working in space to benefit Earth. This role is within the Enterprise Technology (ET) organization, specifically focusing on supply chain and manufacturing technology, developing the digital infrastructure needed to build the road to space. As a Sr. Software Engineer, you will apply your technical expertise and leadership to applications supporting engineering design, manufacturing test, and flight operations. Responsibilities include developing expertise in these domains, leading the design and development of software systems and infrastructure (Java, Python, JavaScript, Angular/React), designing and building web UIs, evaluating, integrating, and extending commercial products (GraphQL, REST, message queues), communicating complex ideas effectively, creating proof-of-concept code, mentoring junior engineers, reducing technical debt, modernizing software, designing, coding, testing and deploying new features using CI/CD best practices, working with UX designers, selecting libraries, providing operational support, and integrating custom software with third-party systems. Minimum qualifications include 6+ years of relevant experience, proficiency in typed and untyped languages, strong understanding of CS fundamentals, ability to solve problems with ambiguous requirements, strong communication skills, experience mentoring software engineers, and demonstrated ability to develop complex end-to-end software. Preferred qualifications include experience in manufacturing/aerospace, knowledge of cybersecurity, proficiency building rich UIs (React), experience deploying production distributed systems to AWS (Git, Docker, Kubernetes), a Bachelor's degree or higher, and experience with Java, microservices, CI/CD, full-stack web dev, TypeScript/Angular, databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Neo4j), and manufacturing software/processes. Passion for space exploration required. Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
