Blue Origin is developing reusable space technology, including the New Glenn rocket, the Blue Moon lunar lander, and the Orbital Reef space station, with the mission to enable millions of people living and working in space to benefit Earth. This role is within the Enterprise Technology (ET) organization, specifically focusing on supply chain and manufacturing technology, developing the digital infrastructure needed to build the road to space.

We are seeking an experienced Senior Software Development Manager to lead Blue Origin’s Scheduling and Planning Technology team. This leader will manage, mentor, and grow a team of approximately 9 software engineers, fostering a culture of collaboration and innovation. Key responsibilities include driving the execution of an ambitious roadmap for manufacturing, scheduling, planning, and execution software, regularly presenting strategic initiatives to Sr. Directors and executives, collaborating extensively with Senior and Principal engineers on optimal technical architectures, driving the team’s operational excellence, delivering high-quality technical solutions, overseeing design, implementation and launch of software, owning critical workstreams on complex projects, and optimizing software development processes.

The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in software development (8+ years, with 5+ in management), a proven track record of leading projects, strong understanding of software architecture, design patterns, and methodologies, experience in distributed backend systems and cloud environments (AWS), excellent problem-solving skills, outstanding communication and interpersonal skills, strong organizational skills, and a passion for space exploration. Preferred qualifications include experience with manufacturing (scheduling, planning, execution), aerospace or defense industry, and familiarity with compliance/regulatory requirements. Willingness to travel up to 15%.
