About The Role: We are seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to join our engineering team. You will play a key role in designing and implementing scalable systems that power Checkly’s monitoring and observability platform. This is an opportunity to significantly impact the scalability, reliability, and operational excellence of our infrastructure while mentoring junior engineers.

What You’ll Do:

• Design and develop high-performance backend services using modern technologies
• Optimize database performance and data storage solutions
• Implement and maintain APIs that serve millions of requests daily
• Collaborate with frontend and product teams to define and implement new features
• Write clean, maintainable code following best practices and architectural standards
• Monitor system performance and implement improvements to enhance reliability
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues in production

Requirements:

• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience
• Proficiency in languages like Go, Java, or Python
• Experience with distributed systems and microservices architecture
• Deep understanding of database technologies (SQL and NoSQL)
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure)
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to analyze complex technical challenges
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills

Nice-to-Have:

• Experience with monitoring tools (Prometheus, Grafana)
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and automation
• Knowledge of containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)
• Experience with monitoring as code concepts
