Software Engineer (Founding Role)

About Chestnut: Chestnut is an a16z-backed insurtech startup building next-generation infrastructure for the $7T insurance industry. We develop customizable, easy-to-use producer management and compensation platforms designed to address insurance industry challenges.

About The Role: We’re looking for a talented software engineer to join our founding team. This role requires both technical expertise and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision. You’ll be responsible for building core features of our platform and helping shape the technical direction of the company.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services using Go
• Implement frontend features using TypeScript and React
• Contribute to infrastructure development using Terraform and cloud services
• Write clean, maintainable code following best practices
• Help define and enforce coding standards and testing practices
• Collaborate with product and design teams to implement new features

Required Skills & Ideal Candidate:

• 2–4 years of professional software engineering experience
• Proficiency in Go, TypeScript, and React
• Experience with cloud infrastructure and deployment processes
• Strong problem-solving skills with attention to detail
• Ability to work independently and take ownership of projects
• Excellent communication skills and collaborative mindset
