About Chroma: Chroma is the open-source search and retrieval database for AI applications. It provides vector, full-text, regex, and metadata search capabilities, supporting local, single-node, and cloud hosting. We support local, single-node, and cloud hosting. We are a team of 17 engineers dedicated to building the data infrastructure for AI and a critical component in this new software development stack.

About The Role: We are seeking a Product Designer to help shape the user experience of Chroma’s products. This role will collaborate with product managers and engineers to create intuitive, beautiful, and functional interfaces for our database and cloud services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct user research and usability testing to inform design decisions
  • Create wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity designs for web and desktop applications
  • Collaborate with product managers to define product requirements and features
  • Develop design systems and UI components that can be reused across products
  • Advocate for users and ensure designs meet their needs
  • Work closely with engineering teams to ensure designs are implemented accurately
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest design trends and best practices

Required Skills and Ideal Candidate:

  • Proven experience as a Product Designer in tech companies
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating expertise in UI/UX design
  • Proficiency in design tools such as Figma, Sketch, or Adobe XD
  • Experience with front-end technologies like HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Ability to balance aesthetic considerations with usability requirements

Compensation: The estimated pay range for this role is $150,000 - $200,000. This role is eligible to participate in Chroma’s equity plan.
