Founding Software Engineer

**About Clearly AI:** Clearly AI accelerates enterprise security and privacy reviews. We help companies like Rivian and HID Global cut review times by 90%. Our platform automates threat modeling, privacy impact assessments, and vendor risk evaluations, turning weeks of manual work into hours. We are a seed-stage company backed by Y Combinator, Basis Set Ventures, and Argon Ventures.

**About the Role:** We are seeking a Founding Software Engineer to join our team. This is a full-time, onsite role in Seattle, WA. You will own major architecture decisions, ship core features, and grow in scope as we scale. This role requires a minimum of 6+ years of professional experience developing software. You will be responsible for designing and developing solutions to automate security and privacy reviews. Given the size and stage of our startup, you will have total ownership of significant portions of the product.

**Responsibilities:**
- Own major architecture decisions and ship core features
- Design and develop solutions to automate security and privacy reviews
- Integrate applications to products like GitHub, Google Drive, Jira
- Work with customers directly to understand their needs
- Optimize cloud infrastructure on AWS
- Mentor other engineers and contribute to team growth

**Qualifications:**
- 6+ years of professional software development experience
- Strong proficiency in Python and TypeScript
- Experience with full-stack web development (APIs, webhooks, background workers, frontend)
- DevOps expertise with CI/CD pipelines
- AWS cloud infrastructure knowledge
- Experience with security and privacy assessments
- Ability to work independently in an early-stage startup environment
- Sound judgment using AI tools without compromising quality
- Excellent problem-solving skills and curiosity

**Compensation:** The estimated pay range for this role is $100,000 - $175,000. In addition, this role is eligible for equity.

**Requirements:**
- Must be authorized to work in the United States without visa sponsorship
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively with customers
- Experience pushing the boundaries of AI engineering
