Product Engineer, internal tooling

Role Overview: We are seeking a Product Engineer to join our internal tooling team, where you will be responsible for building and maintaining the tools that help our engineering teams work more efficiently. This role involves developing internal applications and utilities that support development processes, deployment workflows, and operational tasks.
What You’ll Do:
- Design and implement internal tools that improve developer productivity
- Collaborate with product managers and engineers to understand requirements for internal tools
- Develop applications that support CI/CD, deployment, monitoring, and debugging
- Work on infrastructure and automation tools that streamline engineering workflows
- Contribute to the development of developer experience improvements
- Participate in code reviews and maintain high-quality standards
- Document tools and processes for team knowledge sharing
- Ensure security and reliability of internal tooling solutions
Requirements:
- 4+ years of experience in software engineering with a focus on internal tooling
- Strong proficiency in one or more programming languages (Go, Python, Node.js)
- Experience with cloud platforms and infrastructure
- Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation
- Understanding of developer workflows and pain points
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently
- Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate across teams
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Coder’s open-source platform
- Knowledge of security best practices for internal tools
- Familiarity with monitoring and observability tools
- Understanding of infrastructure-as-code concepts
- Experience with developer productivity tools
