About Creative Fabrica:
Creative Fabrica is a marketplace of digital assets for crafters, also offering ML/AI-based tools like digital asset editors and image generators. A fast-scaling tech start-up from Amsterdam, our mission is to enable creativity by providing access to everything related to the creative process: inspiration, learning, creating, and sharing. This fosters a self-sustaining community within the Creative Fabrica ecosystem. Launched in 2016 as a marketplace for fonts with a subscription service, we've experienced tremendous growth, scaling to over 50 million monthly page views, 8 million registrations, 22 million listed products, and 22,000 active designers. Our focus is on creating a platform that enables designers to offer high-quality content, making their products uniquely searchable, and empowering customers to speed up their workflow to focus on creation.

About the Role:
We’re looking for a Senior Data Engineer to join our growing data team at Creative Fabrica. Data is central to how we grow, make decisions, and deliver amazing experiences to our users. We are building the next-gen data platform to support real-time analytics, personalized features, and smarter, data-driven choices. As part of the team, you’ll help design and roll out new modules for our data platform, including event management, real-time analytics, discoverability, and ensuring top-notch data quality. You will contribute to tool selection and collaborate closely with analysts and machine learning engineers to ensure they receive data precisely when and how they envision it. If you’re excited about building something from the ground up and elevating our data systems, we encourage you to apply!

What you will do:
- Develop key modules for the data platform, including event management, segmentation and personalization systems, data quality monitoring, observability tools, and data discoverability features.
- Build reliable, scalable data pipelines with a strong emphasis on data accuracy, freshness, and performance, ensuring data timeliness and adherence to defined SLAs.
- Build integrations with our product platforms, third-party services, and external data sources to streamline data ingestion and facilitate reverse ETL workflows.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams, including product, analytics, and machine learning engineers, to understand their data needs and deliver solutions that empower them to perform at their best.
- Contribute to the long-term vision and architecture of the data stack, focusing on scalability, reliability, and maintainability to support the growing needs of the business.

What you will need:
- Experience building cloud-based data platforms (preferably on AWS), with the ability to manage high data volume and velocity.
- Hands-on experience using industry standards such as Hadoop, Spark, Flink, Presto or similar big data tools.
- Strong system design skills, with a proven track record of making sound engineering decisions.
- Proficiency in Python, Scala, Java and/or SQL, with experience using dbt for data transformation and modeling.
- Experience with Kafka or other distributed event processing systems.
- User-centric mindset in developing data platforms, with empathy for stakeholders and a genuine curiosity about their use cases.
- Strong communication skills, and ability to explain both the tech you build and the value you deliver to anyone in the company.
- Continuous learning mindset, always staying up-to-date with the latest trends and technologies in data engineering.

Nice to have:
- Experience with data quality monitoring frameworks (e.g. Great Expectations, Soda, Montecarlo).
- Experience with real time analytics.
- Experience with Infra as a code (e.g. Terraform).

Ideal Candidate:
We are looking for a Senior Data Engineer who is user-centric, possesses strong communication skills to articulate technical solutions and their business value, and maintains a continuous learning mindset to stay abreast of the latest data engineering trends. You should be passionate about building robust, scalable data platforms and eager to contribute to our long-term data strategy.
