Junior Data Scientist

Dragonfly Technology is an early-stage startup based in London at the intersection of system design, cloud infrastructure, and artificial intelligence (AI). Our mission is to accelerate the adoption of cutting-edge technologies, particularly generative AI and agentic frameworks, enabling businesses of all sizes to leverage these advancements. About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Data Scientist to join our growing team. In this role, you will be the guardian of our data quality, ensuring the information fueling our core knowledge graph and recommender system is accurate, consistent, and reliable. This role is critical to maintaining data integrity and accuracy within our systems. You’’ll work closely with our ML Engineers, Data Architects, and Research Scientists to understand data requirements, implement quality checks, and perform crucial curation and annotation tasks.

This is a foundational role within the data team with significant growth potential. While initially focused on data quality, you’’ll have opportunities to support senior team members, contribute to various smaller data projects, and expand your skillset across the data science lifecycle from data sourcing and extraction to modelling and inference. We’re looking for someone proactive, with a strong product sense and a “get-it-done” attitude, who is eager to learn and contribute to a fast-paced startup environment.

Qualifications

There are minimal formal qualification requirements - the more unorthodox your background the better - but you have to be able to commit from day 1 and have the core fundamentals needed to get the job done:

Proficiency in Python (Pandas, NumPy, Scikit-learn) for data processing and validation. Experience with SQL and database querying for data curation tasks. Ability to interpret and structure large datasets for AI applications (recommender systems, NLP and knowledge graphs). Familiarity with data cleaning and validation techniques. Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. Excellent communication and collaboration skills. A demonstrable passion for data and technology.

Nice-to-Haves

Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure). Basic understanding of machine learning, knowledge graphs, retrieval and recommender systems. Experience with data annotation or labelling tools.

Our tech stack is still maturing, but exposure to cloud infrastructure, MLOps concepts, and LLMs is a plus. We value a willingness to learn above specific tool expertise for this role.
