Exa Labs Inc. is building a search engine designed for AIs, enabling developers to filter the internet's content with complex queries and bring the world's knowledge into their AI applications. We are a growing family of highly technical idealists on a practical mission to fix the broken information ecosystem by solving search. Our team works with cutting-edge technology, including our own cluster of H200s and SOTA self-supervised search models.

We are seeking a talented Backend Engineer to join our team onsite in San Francisco, CA.

**Role & Responsibilities:**
Design, build, and maintain scalable and reliable backend services and APIs for the Exa search engine. Work with large datasets and optimize search infrastructure for performance and efficiency. Collaborate closely with frontend and ML research teams. Contribute to the core architecture of our search technology.

**Ideal Candidate:**
*   Passionate about AI, search technology, and building large-scale systems.
*   Highly technical with strong experience in backend development (e.g., Python, Go, Rust, C++).
*   Experience with distributed systems, databases (SQL/NoSQL), and cloud infrastructure (e.g., AWS, GCP).
*   Understanding of search algorithms and information retrieval is a plus.
*   Thrives in a fast-paced startup environment.
*   Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
*   Based in or willing to relocate to San Francisco, CA for onsite work.
