Company: Exa Labs Inc. is a San Francisco-based company building a search engine for AIs. We have our own 5 million dollar cluster of H200s and train SOTA self-supervised search models. We are a family of highly technical idealists aiming to fix the information ecosystem by solving search.

Role: We are hiring an ML Research Engineer in San Francisco.

Responsibilities: Focus on researching, developing, and implementing cutting-edge machine learning models to improve Exa's core search technology. This includes exploring new architectures, training large-scale models (leveraging our H200 cluster), and pushing the boundaries of self-supervised search. You will collaborate with backend engineers to deploy models into production.

Requirements: Strong background in Machine Learning research, particularly in areas like NLP, information retrieval, or large language models. Experience with deep learning frameworks (e.g., PyTorch, TensorFlow). Proficiency in Python and experience working with large datasets. PhD or Master's degree in CS or related field often preferred, or equivalent research experience.

Ideal Candidate: Passionate about advancing the state-of-the-art in AI and search. Excited by tackling hard technical problems and contributing to fundamental research with practical applications. Experience with training SOTA models is a plus.
