Role Description:
As an AI Software Engineer, you will be at the forefront of developing, implementing, and optimizing the AI/ML models that power Freed's medical scribe and future products. You'll work extensively with Automatic Speech Recognition (ASR) and Large Language Models (LLMs) to improve transcription accuracy, enhance the quality and relevance of generated medical notes, and personalize the experience for clinicians. Responsibilities include researching and applying state-of-the-art AI techniques, building and maintaining ML pipelines, fine-tuning models, and collaborating with fullstack engineers to integrate AI features into the product.

Ideal Candidate:
You have a strong background in software engineering combined with hands-on experience in developing and deploying machine learning models.
You possess deep expertise in Natural Language Processing (NLP), Large Language Models (LLMs), and/or Automatic Speech Recognition (ASR).
Proficiency in Python and relevant ML frameworks (e.g., PyTorch, TensorFlow, Hugging Face) is essential.
Experience with MLOps practices and deploying models in production environments (preferably on cloud platforms like AWS/GCP/Azure) is highly desirable.
You are passionate about applying AI to solve significant healthcare challenges and improve the lives of clinicians.
You can work independently, take ownership, and move quickly in a startup environment.
Familiarity with our web stack (React, TypeScript, Node.js) is a plus.
Experience in the healthcare domain or with HIPAA compliance is beneficial.
You are eager to work in our SF or NYC office in a hybrid model (3 days/week in-person).
