Software Engineer

About Freetrade: Freetrade provides commission-free investing to over 1 million UK users through its cloud-native platform. We’re expanding our engineering team and looking for talented Software Engineers to help build the next generation of financial technology.

Role Purpose: As a Software Engineer at Freetrade, you’ll contribute to the development and maintenance of our core investing platform. You’ll work on features and systems that directly impact millions of users, from trade execution to customer-facing tools.

Main Responsibilities:

• Develop, test, and maintain backend services for our trading platform
• Collaborate with product and design teams to implement new features
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues in production systems
• Participate in code reviews and team knowledge sharing
• Contribute to architectural discussions and system improvements
• Work with cross-functional teams to understand requirements and deliver solutions

Requirements:

• 2+ years of professional software engineering experience
• Proficiency in TypeScript and Node.js
• Experience with SQL databases (Postgres preferred)
• Understanding of RESTful API design principles
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
• Excellent communication and collaboration abilities
• Experience with cloud platforms is a plus
