Friendly Captcha protects websites from malicious actors and bots using privacy-friendly and accessible anti-bot solutions. As an alternative to reCAPTCHA, they focus on user privacy and accessibility without annoying tasks like clicking fire hydrants. They are a growing, profitable, fully bootstrapped German company founded in 2020, serving medium to large European enterprises and governments, aiming to make the internet a bit better every day. They value sustainability and a healthy work-life balance. Join a small, remote-first engineering team (currently 6 people) distributed across Europe as an allround Software Engineer. You will contribute across the full stack, building and maintaining the core anti-bot product that protects customers' internet presence. The team values freedom, trust, and self-organization. Responsibilities include developing features, maintaining infrastructure, and potentially exploring and visualizing large amounts of data to fight bots. The focus is on simple, effective solutions (preferring if/else over neural networks). The tech stack includes Golang, Typescript, Clickhouse, Postgres, Redis, Terraform, and OpenTelemetry. A unique aspect is supporting an entirely EU-owned stack (no AWS), which is a significant selling point for privacy-conscious customers. The ideal candidate is a generalist software engineer comfortable with the full stack and already productive in Go. Good knowledge of the web is essential. Experience in data science/engineering (Python stack) is a plus but not required. We look for individuals who enjoy learning new things, are not afraid to take ownership, value a healthy work-life balance, and thrive in a remote environment built on freedom and trust. This role can be performed fully remote from anywhere within the EU, EEA, UK, or Switzerland. Alternatively, you can work partially or fully from the Munich office near Munich. There is an option to work either 4 or 5 days per week (part-time or full-time). Candidates must be domiciled in the EU, EEA, UK or Switzerland.
