About Galaxy:
Galaxy is building the unified data platform, starting with a reimagined SQL editor from the ground up and expanding into collaboration, access controls, and more. We are tackling three key problems in the data world:
1. Queries everywhere - SQL lives in Slack snippets, BI folders, dusty Git repos, and copy-pasted Notion pages.
2. Never-ending data requests - because no one can find (or trust) the right query, engineers and analytics teams still get pinged for "one more pull."
3. ChatGPT doesn't have full DB context - non-technical users write incorrect SQL lacking context, while technical users rewrite the same queries repeatedly.

Our mission is to create a unified platform where users can discover, collaborate on, and trust data queries across all their tools. We've just launched our alpha product to over 2,000 people on our waitlist, and we're looking for passionate engineers to help build the future of data work.

About The Role:
We're seeking a Founding Frontend Engineer to join our small but mighty team. This is an opportunity to shape the user experience from the ground up as we build the next generation of data tools. You'll work closely with the founders and backend team to create an intuitive, powerful, and collaborative interface for our SQL editor and beyond.

Key Responsibilities:
- Design and implement the user interface for the Galaxy SQL editor and related features
- Collaborate with the design team to create wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity UI components
- Build responsive and accessible web applications using modern frontend technologies
- Optimize frontend performance and ensure cross-browser compatibility
- Work with backend APIs to fetch and display data effectively
- Implement collaboration features, such as real-time editing and sharing, to enhance user productivity
- Contribute to the development of reusable UI libraries and components
- Stay updated with the latest frontend trends and best practices, and apply them to improve our platform

Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a frontend engineer, with a strong portfolio of web applications
- Proficiency in JavaScript, HTML5, and CSS3, with experience in modern frameworks like React or Vue.js
- Deep understanding of state management, RESTful APIs, and web security
- Experience with version control systems, particularly Git
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to write clean, maintainable code
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced startup environment
- Experience with SQL editors or data visualization tools is a plus

Compensation:
The estimated pay range for this role is $150,000 - $200,000. Additionally, this role is eligible to participate in Galaxy's equity plan.
