Founding Machine Learning Engineer

Galaxy is building the next generation unified data platform, combining a modern AI-enabled SQL editor with powerful collaboration features. As a Founding Machine Learning Engineer, you’ll be instrumental in developing the intelligent capabilities that make our platform truly transformative.

We’re tackling three major pain points in data work:

1. Queries scattered across Slack snippets, BI folders, Git repos, and Notion pages
2. Endless data requests due to unfindable/trusted queries
3. AI tools lacking full database context

This role requires someone with high agency and velocity to help build the ML infrastructure that powers our platform. You’ll be joining early in our startup journey to create an AI system that understands database context and assists users in writing accurate queries.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Developing and deploying ML models that understand database schemas
• Building contextual AI assistants for SQL query generation
• Creating explainable AI features to help users understand query results
• Collaborating with frontend teams to integrate ML capabilities into the user interface
• Designing and implementing machine learning pipelines for our data platform

We’re looking for someone with:

• 5+ years experience in machine learning
• Strong expertise in deep learning and natural language processing
• Experience with transformer models and large language models
• Solid programming skills in Python and relevant ML frameworks
• Understanding of database systems and SQL
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work with ambiguity
