Role Description:
We are seeking a talented Founding Machine Learning Engineer to spearhead the development of the AI capabilities core to the Galaxy platform. You will be responsible for designing, building, and deploying machine learning models to power features like context-aware AI co-pilots, advanced query generation and optimization, natural language querying ("chat with your database"), and potentially novel text-to-SQL solutions tailored for developer workflows.

Responsibilities:
- Lead the research, design, and implementation of ML models for SQL understanding, generation, and optimization.
- Develop and integrate a context-aware AI co-pilot deeply into the querying workflow.
- Explore and implement state-of-the-art NLP techniques for interacting with databases via natural language.
- Collaborate closely with product and engineering teams to define AI features and integrate them seamlessly into the platform.
- Establish best practices for ML development, deployment, monitoring, and iteration within Galaxy.

Ideal Candidate:
- Strong background in Machine Learning, particularly NLP and deep learning.
- Proven experience building and deploying production ML systems.
- Proficient in Python and common ML frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch).
- Familiarity with SQL databases and query optimization concepts is a plus.
- Experience with developer tools or building AI-powered software products.
- Passionate about improving developer productivity and data workflows.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, early-stage startup environment.
