**About The Role:** As a Senior Backend Engineer at Gigs, you will be instrumental in designing and building the scalable and reliable backend systems that power our platform. You will work on complex, distributed systems that handle massive amounts of data and traffic, ensuring that our mobile services are available to users worldwide. You will collaborate with product managers, frontend engineers, and infrastructure teams to deliver innovative solutions that enhance the user experience.

**Key Responsibilities:**
- Design and develop backend services using modern technologies
- Optimize system performance and scalability to handle global traffic
- Work on database design, data modeling, and query optimization
- Collaborate with security teams to ensure systems are secure by design
- Mentor junior engineers and contribute to code reviews
- Drive architectural decisions for high-impact projects
- Build and nurture effective partnerships across teams
- Lead and conduct design reviews for critical projects
- Act as a key stakeholder by engaging with customers and internal teams
- Stay at the forefront of technology advancements in backend systems

**Required Skills:**
- Proven experience in backend engineering, particularly in distributed systems
- Strong proficiency in languages like Go, Python, or Java
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure)
- Understanding of microservices architecture and API design
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Experience with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)
- Knowledge of database technologies (SQL, NoSQL)
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure-as-code
- Experience with monitoring and logging tools

**Ideal Candidate:**
- Proven track record of building scalable backend systems
- Deep understanding of system architecture and tradeoffs
- Experience with high-throughput systems and real-time processing
- Strong background in concurrency and distributed systems
- Ability to mentor and guide engineering teams
- Experience working with large-scale APIs and integrations
- Familiarity with telecom systems and protocols (optional but preferred)
