SRE DevOps On-call Incident Management Observability Cloud Technical Writing Public Speaking Developer Relations DevRel Staff Engineer
incident.io is the leading all-in-one platform for incident management, helping teams respond fast, reduce downtime, and improve every time something goes wrong. Since launching in 2021, we've helped over 800 companies resolve more than 250,000 incidents, with 30,000+ responders using our platform monthly. We are a small team deeply committed to pragmatism, quality, magic, and pace, having raised $100M from top-tier VCs and angel investors.

This is a unique opportunity for an experienced engineer to join our Marketing team as the first Developer Relations Engineer. Unlike typical marketing-focused DevRel roles, you will remain deeply technical, collaborating closely with our engineering team to amplify our innovative work, particularly in areas like agentic incident responders. You will be instrumental in building our DevRel program from scratch, focusing on meaningful, authentic technical communication. This role is ideal for an engineer passionate about improving how teams manage the incident lifecycle and excited about shaping an emerging field.

**Responsibilities:**

* Write genuinely useful technical content including blog posts, videos, practical guides, demos, and code samples, and keep product documentation up to date.
* Work directly with our engineering team, staying close to product development and championing weekly releases.
* Actively engage in online and in-person engineering and SRE communities, sharing insights, best practices, and learnings.
* Serve as a technical bridge between our internal engineers and external users, channeling feedback and insights to shape product improvements.
* Represent incident.io at technical conferences, meetups, podcasts, and webinars, communicating real-world solutions to real-world problems.

**Required Skills and Experience:**

* Proven track record as a Site Reliability Engineer, DevOps Engineer, or in a closely related operational engineering role. You understand the workflows, frustrations, and aspirations of operational engineers.
* A genuine enjoyment for writing and speaking about complex technical topics, with the ability to translate engineering concepts clearly and effectively.
* Excitement about teaching and mentoring fellow engineers, and a passion for making their jobs easier and less stressful.
* Practical experience with modern SRE practices, observability tools, incident management tooling, and cloud applications.
* Comfortable with public speaking, or eager to build this skill through videos, conferences, webinars, and workshops.
* Experience being an on-call engineer, having experienced debugging production outages and improving reliability.
