Full-Stack Engineer

About InstantDB:

InstantDB is a YC-backed startup building a modern Firebase alternative. We provide a real-time database for the browser, allowing developers to build live apps quickly. We’re looking for a talented Full-Stack Engineer to build frontend sync engines and UIs that developers use for hours. This role will involve working on our client-server architecture, optimizing data flow, and creating intuitive user interfaces.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and implement frontend sync engines for real-time data
• Build responsive and intuitive user interfaces using modern frameworks
• Collaborate with backend engineers to optimize data flow and performance
• Develop and maintain our CLI tool and web GUI
• Contribute to our open-source projects and community engagement
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues

Required Skills:

• Proficiency in TypeScript and JavaScript
• Experience with frontend frameworks (React, Vue, or similar)
• Understanding of backend technologies (Clojure, AWS Aurora Postgres)
• Knowledge of real-time data synchronization concepts
• Experience with state management and data modeling
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail

Ideal Candidate:

• 3+ years of experience as a full-stack engineer
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field
• Passion for building developer tools and improving developer experience
• Experience with modern JavaScript frameworks
• Strong understanding of database concepts and API design
• Familiarity with Clojure or functional programming concepts
• Experience with AWS services and cloud infrastructure
• Excellent communication skills and collaborative mindset
