Company: IPinfo.io is a leading provider of IP address data, handling over 100 billion API requests monthly. We're a profitable, bootstrapped company with a global remote team of over 40, serving major clients like T-Mobile and DataDog since 2013.

Work Environment: We operate 100% remotely with a small, ambitious global team. Work happens asynchronously via Slack, GitHub, Linear, and Notion, with minimal meetings (monthly all-hands, bi-weekly team calls). This requires high autonomy, ownership, and resourcefulness.

The Role: We're looking to add an awesome data engineer to our data team. You'll work on improving our data pipelines, creating new data sets, optimizing queries, and helping us cement our position as an industry leader.

Responsibilities:
- Improve and maintain our data pipelines.
- Create new datasets by combining and cleaning up existing open data sets.
- Optimize SQL queries, particularly in Google BigQuery, focusing on performance and cost optimization.
- Work extensively with geospatial queries and data (e.g., geometries, geohash, h3, OSM).
- Help solidify IPinfo's position as an industry leader in IP data.

Required Skills:
- Expertise in SQL.
- Strong familiarity with Google BigQuery, including performance and cost optimization strategies.
- Familiarity with geospatial queries and data concepts (geometries, geohash, h3, OSM, etc.).
- Experience creating new datasets based on combining and cleaning up existing open data sets.

Nice-to-have:
- Knowledge of IP address domain concepts: ASN, BGP, CIDR, Ping, Traceroute, Whois, etc.
