**About Kombo:** Kombo (YC S22) is a fast-growing startup (~35 people) based in Berlin, building the leading unified API for HR, ATS, and Payroll systems. We empower B2B companies across HR Tech, Fintech, Benefits, and more to seamlessly integrate with their customers' HR tools, streamlining processes like employee provisioning, data sync, and compliance. We tripled our revenue last year and are backed by Y Combinator. Our engineering culture values collaboration, quality, and impact. **The Role:** We are seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to lead one of our product squads. This is a key role in scaling our engineering organization as we continue our rapid growth. You will be responsible for managing a team of talented engineers, fostering a positive and productive culture, driving project execution, and contributing to the technical direction of our unified API platform. This role is based in our Berlin office, with flexibility. **Responsibilities:** * Manage, mentor, and support a team of software engineers, guiding their technical and professional growth. * Oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of high-quality features and improvements for your squad's domain within the Kombo API. * Collaborate closely with product managers, designers, and other stakeholders to define roadmaps, set priorities, and ensure alignment. * Champion engineering best practices, ensuring high standards of code quality, system reliability, performance, and operational excellence. * Participate in architectural discussions and contribute to technical decision-making. * Help recruit, onboard, and retain engineering talent. * Foster a collaborative, inclusive, and high-performance team environment. **Ideal Candidate:** * Proven experience managing and leading software engineering teams, ideally in a fast-paced startup or scale-up environment. * Strong technical background, likely in backend or full-stack development, with experience building and scaling complex systems. Experience with APIs, integrations, or HR tech is a significant plus. * Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills. * Ability to balance technical depth with effective people management and mentorship. * Passionate about building high-quality products, solving challenging technical problems, and fostering a positive team culture. * Experience working in an agile environment. **Offer:** * Competitive salary range: €80,000 - €110,000 per year. * Meaningful equity package. * Opportunity to make a significant impact in a fast-growing, well-funded startup. * Work with a talented and motivated international team in Berlin.
