Company: Layer Health is a rapidly growing AI/ML startup (fresh $21M Series A, backed by Define Ventures, GV, Flare Capital Partners) spun out of MIT. We are building an enterprise LLM platform to transform clinical data understanding and tackle the $2B/year problem of manual patient chart abstraction in healthcare. Our AI-powered platform reasons longitudinally across patient charts, aiming to surpass human performance and unlock value for health systems and life science organizations. Join our team of ~18 (growing to 40-50) with deep research/ML backgrounds.

Role Overview: As a Product Designer at Layer Health, you will shape the user experience of our cutting-edge AI platform. You will translate complex clinical workflows and powerful AI capabilities into intuitive, efficient, and trustworthy interfaces for clinicians, researchers, and administrators. You will work across the entire design process, from user research and concept development to detailed interaction design, prototyping, and visual design.

Responsibilities:
*   Conduct user research (interviews, usability testing, workflow analysis) to deeply understand user needs, pain points, and contexts within healthcare settings.
*   Translate user insights and product requirements into user flows, wireframes, mockups, and interactive prototypes.
*   Design intuitive and elegant user interfaces that handle complex data and AI-driven insights effectively.
*   Develop and maintain design systems and UI guidelines to ensure consistency across the platform.
*   Collaborate closely with product managers, engineers, and researchers throughout the product development lifecycle.
*   Iterate on designs based on user feedback, usability testing, and data analysis.
*   Advocate for user-centered design principles and best practices within the company.
*   Visualize complex AI outputs and clinical information in clear and understandable ways.

Required Skills:
*   Proven experience (3-5+ years) as a Product Designer, UX Designer, or similar role, with a strong portfolio showcasing your work on complex web applications.
*   Proficiency in design and prototyping tools (e.g., Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD).
*   Experience with the end-to-end design process, including user research, interaction design, visual design, and usability testing.
*   Ability to translate complex requirements and technical concepts into simple and intuitive user experiences.
*   Strong understanding of user-centered design principles and methodologies.
*   Excellent visual design skills with attention to detail.
*   Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Ideal Candidate:
*   Experience designing for enterprise software (SaaS).
*   Experience designing products for healthcare professionals or in the healthcare domain is a significant plus.
*   Experience designing interfaces for data-intensive applications or AI/ML products.
*   Experience building or contributing to design systems.
*   Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, agile startup environment.
*   Passionate about improving healthcare through thoughtful design and technology.
*   Ability to work hybrid (2-3 days/week) in either our Boston (Back Bay) or NYC (Grand Central) office.
