Senior Kafka Engineer

**About The Role:** We are seeking a Senior Kafka Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will play a critical part in helping clients understand and improve their Kafka-based systems. You will dive deep into complex, poorly documented deployments, diagnose issues, and develop plans for re-architecting these systems to meet modern requirements.

**Key Responsibilities:**

*   Analyze and understand Kafka deployments that are poorly documented or have become overly complex
*   Develop and implement strategies for cleaning up and re-architecting these systems
*   Create clear documentation and best practices for Kafka usage and management
*   Collaborate with clients to understand their business requirements and technical constraints
*   Design and implement monitoring and alerting systems for Kafka infrastructure
*   Troubleshoot and resolve complex Kafka-related issues in production environments
*   Stay abreast of the latest trends and technologies in Kafka and distributed systems

**Required Skills and Qualifications:**

*   Proven experience in designing, implementing, and maintaining Kafka-based systems
*   Deep understanding of distributed systems, particularly Kafka's architecture and internals
*   Experience in working with SAP environments and cloud migration projects
*   Strong knowledge of message queuing systems and stream processing frameworks
*   Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
*   Ability to work effectively in a hybrid environment (primarily in our Chicago office)
*   Strong communication and collaboration abilities
