Elixir Backend Back End Engineer

As a Backend Software Engineer at Lonely Planet, you’ll be instrumental in designing, developing, and maintaining the robust backend systems that power our next-generation travel app. This role is critical in shaping the future of our digital travel offerings, ensuring our platform is scalable, reliable, and capable of handling millions of users worldwide.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Designing and implementing scalable backend services using modern technologies
  • Collaborating with product managers and designers to define and implement new features
  • Working with database technologies to ensure data integrity and performance
  • Optimizing system performance and reliability through code reviews and architectural improvements
  • Troubleshooting and debugging complex issues in production
  • Participating in agile development processes and ceremonies

We’re looking for an experienced backend engineer with a strong foundation in software engineering principles and a passion for building high-quality systems. Proficiency in Elixir is a must, along with experience in building distributed systems.
