Staff Data Engineer

About The Role: We are looking for a Data Engineer who will play a key role in accelerating innovation by delivering robust data solutions. You will be responsible for designing and implementing scalable data strategies to power machine-learning algorithms and provide the data infrastructure needed to enable personalized, data-driven experiences.
Responsibilities:
- Maximize speed of iteration by breaking data solutions into small slices of deliverables that are adaptable, improvable, and reusable.
- Design & implement your squad's data strategy to power machine-learning-based algorithms.
- Provide high fidelity data products that enable algorithms to improve by learning from previous decisions or predictions.
- Supply data necessary to identify intent and conversational context on a personalized level to support individual reflection and community connection.
- Harvest data to distill content and understand what resonates with a person via algorithms.
- Experiment with various methods of direct delivery to participants and optimize effectiveness on a personalized basis.
- Engineer recommendation systems with a goal of maximizing user interaction in a manner that fosters behavioral change.
- In collaboration with a team, develop a suite of metrics for tracking algorithm effectiveness and iteration improvements over time.
Requirements:
- 8+ years of professional experience in data engineering or a related field, with demonstrated expertise in building and deploying scalable data solutions.
- Strong skills in critical thinking, decision making, problem-solving, and attention to detail.
- Technically skilled, and able to understand technology tradeoffs that your squad will face.
- Proficient at resolving ambiguity. When there is uncertainty, you can work with squad colleagues to define the path forward.
- Able to work independently, operating without significant input or guidance.
- Strong knowledge and proficiency in modern programming languages (Python, SQL).
- Proficient designing, building, and optimizing data pipelines, architectures and data sets that compound in value. Experience with building data infrastructure and managing data operation.
- Architect solutions utilizing transactional databases, operational data stores (ODS) and analytical data warehouses.
- Experience using Microsoft SQL Server, Google Spanner, Google Spanner, and Google BigQuery.
- Compose and optimized TSQL stored procedures utilized by application(s) and APIs.
- Cloud Pub/Sub (real-time messaging service).
- Cloud platform experience (GCP preferred).
- Experience with Dataflow, Datastream, Apache Airflow, dbt Core, Cloud Functions, or similar data integration & orchestration tool(s).
- Experience working in a collaborative multi-disciplinary team with an agile process.
- Highly motivated with outstanding organizational skills, effective relationship builder - ability to partner internally & externally with various levels of the organization and personality types.
