Python pandas AWS Energy Modeling Data Engineering Data Engineer Data Science

About Maiven: Maiven is on a mission to revolutionize how energy efficiency and decarbonization programs are delivered at scale. We empower utilities, governments, and energy program implementers to make smarter decisions that reduce energy costs and carbon footprints for residents. Our platform combines cutting-edge software with advanced energy modeling to unlock massive savings for households—especially in underserved communities.

About The Role: We’re looking for a brilliant, driven engineer to own and evolve Maiven Intelligence—our core analytics and modeling engine. If you thrive in ambiguity, challenge orthodoxy, and care deeply about shipping meaningful software fast, we’d love to meet you.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build and refine data models and algorithms to drive decision-making for energy upgrades and electrification
  • Collaborate with product, data science, and engineering leads to deliver insights that previously took weeks—in seconds
  • Work across our platform, with a primary focus on the “Maiven Intelligence” layer: modeling, simulations, analytics, and logic
  • Dive into new methodologies and energy modeling paradigms—question assumptions, move fast, and iterate often
  • Leverage large structured and unstructured datasets, including AMI data and historical utility program insights

Requirements:

  • 4–10 years of experience building and shipping production-grade software
  • Strong Python and data engineering background (Pandas, ETL, SQL, APIs, data modeling)
  • Experience with AWS, especially Lambda, S3, Athena, SageMaker, and related services
  • Working knowledge of TypeScript, NestJS, and React
  • Familiarity with AMI data, energy models, or adjacent domains (building science, HVAC, load curves, DERs) is strongly preferred
  • Not beholden to “how it’s always been done” but know when to innovate

What We Offer:

  • Competitive startup salary and meaningful equity in a fast-growing, mission-driven company
  • Opportunity to work with a small, elite team solving real-world climate problems
  • Product and engineering culture that prizes elegance, speed, and user-centricity
  • Flexible work hours and location
  • A seat at the table as we define what modern energy intelligence looks like
