Mechanize is creating high-fidelity virtual work environments, benchmarks, and datasets to enable AI agents to master real-world jobs—starting with full-stack software engineering. Our mission is to develop the infrastructure that will enable the full automation of the economy.
Unlike traditional AI approaches, we're focused on creating simulated environments that capture the full scope of what humans do at work: using computers, completing long-horizon tasks, coordinating with others, and adapting to obstacles and interruptions.
We’re betting that the lion’s share of value from AI will come from automating ordinary labor tasks rather than from “geniuses in a data center”. Currently, AI models have serious shortcomings that render most of this enormous value out of reach (unreliability, lack of robust long-context, agency/multimodality issues, poor long-term planning). Mechanize will produce the data and evals necessary for comprehensively automating work via digital environments acting as practical simulations for RL.
Mechanize is backed by investments from Nat Friedman and Daniel Gross, Patrick Collison, Dwarkesh Patel, Jeff Dean, Sholto Douglas, and Marcus Abramovitch.
