Monumental is creating robots that autonomously construct buildings, starting with autonomous bricklaying robots in Amsterdam. They design hardware/software in-house and have deployed robots earning revenue. Funded with $25M, the team of 50+ is growing fast. Their mission is software-defined, autonomous construction. We are looking for a Software Engineer specializing in Machine Vision to develop the perception systems for our autonomous robots. You will work on enabling our robots to understand and interact with the complex and unstructured environment of a construction site. Challenges include robust object detection, precise localization, 3D reconstruction, and quality inspection using vision data. Responsibilities: - Design and implement algorithms for 2D and 3D machine vision tasks (e.g., feature detection, segmentation, SLAM, calibration). - Develop software for processing sensor data (cameras, lidar) to enable autonomous navigation and manipulation. - Integrate machine vision modules with the broader robotics software stack. - Optimize vision algorithms for performance and robustness on embedded systems and in challenging site conditions. - Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in computer vision and machine learning for robotics. Ideal Candidate: - Strong background in computer vision algorithms and principles. - Proficient in programming, ideally with Python and/or C++, experience with Rust is a plus. - Experience with common computer vision libraries (e.g., OpenCV, PCL) and potentially ML frameworks (e.g., PyTorch, TensorFlow). - Experience working with camera and lidar data. - Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Robotics, or a related field with a focus on vision or AI/ML.
