Software Engineer, Full Stack

About Monumental: Monumental is creating robots that autonomously construct buildings, starting with autonomous bricklaying robots. Our mission is to make construction software-defined and autonomous. We design all of our hardware and software in-house and are now earning real money as a masonry contractor. We are a fast-growing startup with more than 60 people, working at the intersection of robotics, software, and construction. Our stack includes Rust, TypeScript, Python, and NixOS.

Key Responsibilities:

• Design and implement full-stack features for our autonomous construction systems
• Collaborate with hardware and robotics teams to ensure seamless integration
• Build and maintain web applications for monitoring and controlling our robots
• Develop APIs and services that enable our robots to communicate and operate autonomously
• Optimize system performance for real-time operation in construction environments
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues in production

Requirements:

• 3+ years of experience as a full-stack software engineer
• Proficiency in Rust, TypeScript, and Python
• Experience with distributed systems and real-time data processing
• Strong understanding of web technologies (React, Node.js)
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, hardware-focused environment
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
• Experience with robotics or autonomous systems is a plus
