MorphMarket.com is an online marketplace connecting breeders and keepers of exotic pets like lizards, geckos, snakes, and spiders. We cater to a passionate user base dedicated to these unique animals. We are seeking a hybrid Designer & Front-End Engineer to join our distributed team. Role & Responsibilities: We're looking for someone who bridges the gap between design and front-end implementation. You will be responsible for identifying and fixing design inconsistencies, producing quick designs/mockups for feedback, implementing layout changes using CSS and React, and helping establish our visual language. Key responsibilities include: - Detecting and correcting design inconsistencies (alignment, fonts, spacing etc.). - Creating wireframes or mockups using tools like Figma, Sketch, Photoshop, or others for team feedback. - Writing, debugging, and implementing CSS to translate designs into our codebase. - Utilizing React skills to adjust and structure front-end components. - Leading the effort to identify canonical UX components and build a design inventory/system to improve team coordination on design. - Contributing opinions on good UX practices and identifying useful patterns from other applications. Ideal Candidate: - Possesses a keen eye ("spider-sense") for design details and inconsistencies. - Proficient in at least one design/wireframing tool. - Strong CSS skills and debugging capabilities. - Sufficient React knowledge to implement UI changes. - Experience or interest in creating/maintaining design systems or component libraries. - Holds informed opinions about user experience design and actively observes design patterns. Work Culture: - Fully remote team distributed across Europe, Asia, and USA. - Communication is primarily asynchronous and written (Slack). - Requires overlap for ~2 hours daily for team synchronization. - Strong emphasis on learning, team education, and professional development. - Fridays dedicated to tech debt and skill improvement ("sharpening the saw"). - Collaborative and friendly environment (~15 product team members, ~25 total staff). This is a part-time role offering 20-40 hours per week.
