About The Role: We are seeking a System Reliability Engineer (SRE) to join our platform engineering team. In this role, you will play a key part in ensuring the reliability, performance, and scalability of our services. You will design, build, and maintain systems that monitor and manage our infrastructure, ensuring that our customers have a seamless banking experience. This is an opportunity to work with cutting-edge technologies and contribute to the foundation of our platform.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, build, and deploy systems that monitor and alert on the health of N26’s services.
  • Investigate and resolve incidents, identifying root causes and implementing preventive measures.
  • Develop automation to streamline operations and reduce manual toil.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to implement best practices for system reliability and availability.
  • Champion a culture of observability, ensuring that metrics, logs, and traces are properly instrumented and utilized.
  • Work closely with product and operations teams to define and achieve reliability targets (SLOs/SLOIs).
  • Contribute to the technical strategy and roadmap for platform reliability.

Requirements:

  • Proven experience in building and maintaining reliable, scalable systems.
  • Strong understanding of distributed systems, networking, and cloud infrastructure.
  • Experience with monitoring tools (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack).
  • Proficiency in scripting languages (Bash, Python) and automation tools.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with a focus on root cause analysis.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
  • Experience with containerization (Docker, Kubernetes) and infrastructure as code (Terraform, CloudFormation).
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

Nice-to-Have:

  • Experience with chaos engineering and fault injection tools (e.g., Chaos Monkey).
  • Knowledge of financial services or fintech industry.
  • Experience with databases and data modeling (SQL, NoSQL).
  • Familiarity with security practices and compliance requirements in financial services.
