Senior Frontend Contractor

Nelknet is a small, experienced team building software solutions for US-based clients. We bring your technology vision to life with practical, results-driven consulting. Our mission is to deliver powerful software solutions that drive growth, spanning from full-stack development to cloud infrastructure. Recent projects include building ChatGPT-style interfaces for intelligence report analysis, developing generative AI features for professional networking platforms, platform engineering for logistics/trucking management systems, architecture design for real estate search engines, and implementing RAG pipelines for edtech products.

We are expanding our network of senior contractors (both frontend and backend). This is a 1099 contracting relationship - you’ll have the flexibility to manage your own schedule and potentially work with other clients while maintaining a professional commitment to our projects.

As a Senior Frontend Contractor at Nelknet, you will play a crucial role in building modern, responsive, and user-friendly web applications. You will work closely with our team to deliver high-quality user interfaces that meet client requirements.

Responsibilities:

• Design and implement modern web applications using cutting-edge frontend technologies
• Collaborate with backend engineers to integrate APIs and services
• Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code following best practices
• Conduct code reviews and provide guidance to junior developers
• Troubleshoot and debug frontend issues, ensuring optimal performance
• Stay up-to-date with the latest frontend frameworks and techniques
• Participate in design discussions and contribute to product decisions

Requirements:

• Proven experience as a frontend developer with a strong portfolio
• Proficiency in JavaScript, TypeScript, and modern frontend frameworks (React, Vue, Angular)
• Deep understanding of state management and performance optimization
• Experience with responsive design and accessibility standards
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills
• Some level of US business hours availability
