Company: NX1 is a new discretionary, tech industry focused hedge fund founded by experienced Tiger Cub alumni. We are applying AI to the investment research process and building our systems from the ground up in a greenfield environment. We see this as an opportunity to be one of the goldminers in the AI investing space, leveraging data to gain an edge. Role: We are hiring talented AI Engineers interested in applying artificial intelligence and machine learning techniques to the investment research process. Responsibilities: * Research, design, develop, and implement AI/ML models to analyze data (including alternative data) and generate investment insights. * Collaborate with portfolio managers and analysts to understand investment strategies and identify opportunities for AI application. * Work with the data engineering team to build and maintain data pipelines and infrastructure supporting AI initiatives. * Evaluate and experiment with new AI techniques, algorithms, and tools. * Process and analyze large datasets using our data stack (S3/R2, Snowflake, Iceberg, Dagster, dbt). Technical Skills Required: * Strong background in AI/ML theory and practical application (e.g., NLP, time series analysis, deep learning). * Proficiency in programming languages commonly used in AI/ML (e.g., Python) and relevant libraries (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit-learn). * Experience with data processing, feature engineering, and model evaluation. * Familiarity with cloud platforms and data warehousing solutions (Snowflake preferred). * Experience with data pipeline tools (Dagster, dbt) is a plus. Ideal Candidate: * Passionate about applying AI to solve real-world problems, particularly in finance/investing. * Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. * Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. * Interest in finance/investing is crucial (prior industry experience is NOT required). * Comfortable working in a greenfield setting at a new firm.
