Sr. Fullstack Engineer

Onton is looking for a Sr. Fullstack Engineer to join our fast-growing team. As a Sr. Fullstack Engineer, you will play a critical role in building and scaling our e-commerce search platform. We are tackling the most economically impactful decisions first, and our technology is at the heart of it.

Our tech stack includes React/TypeScript for the frontend and Julia for the backend, along with our own graph database and a neuro-symbolic AI agent that continuously learns. This role requires a deep understanding of full-stack development, with a focus on building scalable and performant systems.

In this role, you will:

• Design and implement features for our search platform, working closely with product and design teams.
• Optimize the performance of our graph database and AI agent.
• Collaborate with our small, talented team to ship high-quality software iteratively.
• Mentor other engineers and contribute to our codebase.

We are looking for someone with strong experience in full-stack development, including proficiency in React/TypeScript and Julia, and a passion for building robust, scalable systems.

Qualifications:

• 5+ years of experience as a software engineer, preferably in a startup environment.
• Strong proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript and Python or Julia.
• Experience with React and modern frontend tooling.
• Understanding of RESTful APIs and distributed systems.
• Experience with database design and optimization.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and a track record of delivering complex features on time.
