Role: We are looking for a highly experienced Staff Software Engineer to provide technical leadership and tackle our most complex engineering challenges. You will have a significant impact on the architecture and direction of our search platform, leveraging Clojure, our custom graph database, and our cutting-edge neuro-symbolic AI agent.

Responsibilities:
* Lead the design and implementation of highly scalable, robust, and performant backend systems.
* Define technical strategy and architecture for key components of the Onton platform.
* Mentor other engineers and elevate the team's technical capabilities.
* Drive complex technical projects from ideation to production.
* Solve ambiguous problems related to search, AI, data infrastructure, and scalability.

Technical Skills:
* Deep expertise in software engineering, distributed systems, and system architecture.
* Extensive experience building and scaling complex, high-traffic backend services.
* Mastery of backend programming languages (Clojure experience highly valuable).
* Strong understanding of database technologies (graph DB experience preferred), AI/ML concepts, and search infrastructure.
* Proven ability to lead technical initiatives and make critical design decisions.
