Ovyl is looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer excited to build great products and help shape what's next for our hardware product development company in Nashville, TN. We develop products holistically, including commercial IoT, medical devices, and consumer electronics, with a focus on seamless integration of design and engineering. Role Description: As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will play a key role in the design, development, and validation of mechanical systems for innovative hardware products. You will leverage your expertise in areas like DFM, FEA, and CAD to create robust and elegant solutions. You will collaborate closely with industrial designers, electrical engineers, and firmware engineers throughout the product lifecycle. Responsibilities: - Lead mechanical design and engineering efforts for various client projects. - Develop detailed 3D CAD models and 2D drawings (experience with Onshape is a plus). - Perform engineering analysis, including FEA and tolerance analysis. - Design for Manufacturability (DFM) and Assembly (DFA). - Build and test prototypes to validate designs. - Collaborate with manufacturing partners to ensure smooth transition to production. - Mentor junior engineers and contribute to the team's technical growth. - Work within our interdisciplinary teams, contributing to our holistic development process. Ideal Candidate: - Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field. - 5+ years of experience in mechanical design for hardware products, particularly consumer electronics, medical devices, or IoT. - Proficiency in 3D CAD software (Onshape preferred, SolidWorks, etc.). - Strong understanding of materials, manufacturing processes (injection molding, machining, etc.), and mechanical analysis techniques. - Experience taking products from concept through to mass production. - Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail. - Collaborative team player comfortable in a fast-paced environment. - Aligns with Ovyl's values of Candor, Empathy, Progress, and Life > Work.
