Company: Parallel Systems is a Series B funded (~$38M) startup based in the Arts District of LA, focused on bringing electric and autonomous solutions to the railroad. We're fundamentally changing how the railroad is perceived and migrating freight from trucking to rail, requiring a high level of creativity to adapt legacy systems to modern solutions. Our team fosters a culture of inclusion, ownership, and technical excellence.

Role: We are looking for a strong Software Engineer to support the development of systems for collecting, processing, and analyzing telemetry data from our autonomous, battery-electric rail vehicles. You will have a high level of ownership and bring innovation to the table. This role is critical for monitoring vehicle health, performance, and operational status.

Responsibilities:
- Design and implement software for onboard data acquisition and transmission.
- Develop backend systems for ingesting, storing, processing, and visualizing large volumes of telemetry data.
- Build tools and dashboards for monitoring vehicle fleets in real-time.
- Collaborate with hardware, controls, and autonomy teams to define data requirements.
- Ensure data integrity, reliability, and scalability of telemetry systems.

Requirements:
- Strong proficiency in software development, ideally with Rust (our primary language) or a willingness to learn it quickly.
- Experience with data pipelines, time-series databases, and data streaming technologies.
- Familiarity with IoT concepts, embedded systems, or vehicle communication protocols (CAN bus, etc.) is a plus.
- Strong understanding of data structures, algorithms, and system design.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced startup environment.
- Based in or willing to relocate to Los Angeles, CA (Onsite with Flex Fridays).

Ideal Candidate: A detail-oriented engineer with experience in handling large datasets and real-time systems. You are passionate about leveraging data to improve system performance and reliability in the context of autonomous vehicles and robotics.
