The Role:
As a Staff Software Engineer at PermitFlow, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the technical direction and execution of our platform. You will tackle complex technical challenges related to processing and standardizing diverse permitting requirements at scale, potentially leveraging AI and LLMs. You will lead critical projects, mentor other engineers, and contribute significantly to our system architecture. Responsibilities:
- Design, build, and maintain scalable, robust, and performant software systems.
- Lead the development of complex features and initiatives from conception to deployment.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to fellow engineers.
- Collaborate with product managers, designers, and other stakeholders to define and deliver high-quality software solutions.
- Drive architectural decisions and advocate for best practices in software engineering.
- Contribute to solving challenging problems involving data extraction, process automation, and potentially AI/LLM applications in the permitting domain.

Ideal Candidate:
- Extensive experience in full-stack software development, with a proven track record of building and scaling complex applications.
- Strong proficiency in multiple programming languages and frameworks (specific stack flexible, but experience with modern web technologies is key).
- Deep understanding of system design, architecture, data structures, and algorithms.
- Experience leading technical projects and mentoring engineers.
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
- Customer-obsessed, ambitious, and hard-working, thriving in a fast-paced startup environment.
- Excited about applying technology, including AI/LLMs, to solve real-world problems in the construction industry.
