Pliant is seeking Backend Engineers to join our team remotely within the EU.

**The Role:**
As a Backend Engineer, you will be part of our empowered product teams, working in a "getting shit done", no-bullshit environment alongside competent Product Managers. You will be responsible for designing, developing, testing, and deploying backend services that form the core of the Pliant platform. You'll contribute to building scalable, reliable, and secure systems that handle complex financial transactions and data integrations.

**Responsibilities:**
*   Design, build, and maintain efficient, reusable, and reliable Java/Kotlin code.
*   Ensure the best possible performance, quality, and responsiveness of the applications.
*   Identify bottlenecks and bugs, and devise solutions to these problems.
*   Help maintain code quality, organization, and automatization.
*   Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and ship new features.
*   Work with our core tech stack: Java/Kotlin, Spring Boot 3, Postgres, Kafka, AWS, Terraform.

**Ideal Candidate:**
*   Proven experience as a Backend Engineer.
*   Strong proficiency in Java or Kotlin, and the Spring Boot framework.
*   Experience with relational databases (Postgres preferred) and messaging queues (Kafka).
*   Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS) and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform).
*   Possesses a "getting shit done" attitude and thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
*   Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
*   Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively within a remote team.
*   Based within the EU.
