Senior Full-stack Product Engineer

Promptfoo is seeking a Senior Full-stack Product Engineer to join our core engineering team. In this role, you will play a pivotal part in shaping the future of our open-source toolkit used by developers worldwide. You’ll work at the intersection of product development, open-source innovation, and AI infrastructure, driving the evolution of our platform to meet the growing needs of the developer community.

About Promptfoo: Promptfoo provides an MIT-licensed open-source toolkit for evaluating, securing, and optimizing LLM applications. With over 100k developers using our platform, we help teams build reliable, secure, and high-performance AI systems. Our team consists of experienced engineers, operators, and technical founders who are passionate about making LLM development safer and more accessible.

Responsibilities:

• Design and implement new features for our open-source toolkit
• Collaborate with product managers and researchers to define requirements
• Optimize performance and scalability of our cloud-based services
• Build and maintain our documentation and community resources
• Contribute to our open-source projects and engage with the developer community
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues
• Mentor junior engineers and promote best practices

Qualifications:

• 8+ years of professional software engineering experience
• Strong proficiency in TypeScript and Python
• Experience with full-stack development (both frontend and backend)
• Deep understanding of distributed systems and cloud infrastructure
• Familiarity with open-source development practices
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
• Experience with AI/ML systems and security considerations
