Go Golang GRPC Postgres Distributed Systems Infrastructure Networking Operating Systems Back End Engineer Staff Engineer

About Railway: Railway is a cloud infrastructure company that empowers developers to focus on building features rather than managing complex deployment infrastructure. We’ve built a platform loved by hundreds of thousands of users who simply tell us “Give me Postgres”, “Deploy this repo”, and we make it happen.

About The Role: We are seeking an Infrastructure Engineer to join our Platform team. In this role, you will be responsible for building system-level software that forms the foundation of our platform. Our challenges aren’t your usual Kubernetes-fits-all variety, so you’ll need to be prepared to build things from scratch based on first principles.

You will:

  • Build system-level software to expose the knobs, bells, and whistles that allow users to build to the wildest dreams.
  • Have a strong understanding or curiosity of OS-level primitives, as our business hinges on efficiency.
  • Roll with the boring: build Go/Rust GRPC services from scratch to expose complex capabilities to the wider company in a scalable and performant manner.

This is a high-impact role with direct effect on company culture, trajectory, and outcome. You may be oncall from time to time.

What You’ll Bring:

  • Proven ability to build system-level software from scratch.
  • Strong understanding of distributed systems and fault tolerance.
  • Mastery of OS primitives and kernel-level programming.
  • Experience with Go or Rust for systems programming.
  • A track record of building scalable and performant services.

Compensation: The estimated pay range for this role is $150,000 - $220,000, with equity options.

Join us: If you enjoy building foundational infrastructure and tackling challenging problems with impact, this role is for you.
