Senior Python Backend Engineer

Reef Technologies is looking for experienced Python backend engineers to join our fully remote team.

**The Role:**
You will work on challenging projects, such as our trustless supercluster of performance-proofed, GPU-enabled, sandboxed Docker container runners controlled by truly decentralized algorithms (not just PAXOS or RAFT). You'll tackle complex technical problems and contribute to our solutions.

**Responsibilities:**
- Design, develop, and maintain backend systems using Python.
- Work on complex distributed systems and decentralized algorithms.
- Collaborate with a team of experienced senior engineers.
- Contribute to system architecture and design decisions.
- Influence the way we operate through our Sociocracy 3.0 process.

**Requirements:**
- 5+ years of programming experience.
- At least 1 year of significant Python experience (open source and substantial personal projects count).
- Experience with backend development, APIs, and databases.
- Interest in or experience with Docker, GPUs, distributed systems, or decentralized technologies is a plus.
- Ability to work independently and manage your own time effectively.

**Work Environment & Compensation:**
- **Fully Remote:** Contribute from anywhere.
- **Flexible Hours:** Set your own time commitment (minimum 30h/week). Measured with a time tracker.
- **B2B Contract:** $45–$70 USD or 190–295 PLN per hour. ($93,600–$145,600 USD annually based on 40h/week). Rates adjusted for inflation twice a year.
- **Influence:** Participate in our Sociocracy 3.0 decision-making.
